To create perfect images it’s important to understand the basic characteristics of lenses and how they control light to create images. Lenses are identified by their focal length. Prime lenses (also known as fixed focal length) have only one focal length while Zoom lenses have a range of focal lengths which allow changing focal length during shot. Focal length is expressed in millimeters. The lens sees a scene through a narrower angle-the longer the focal length, the narrower this angle of view (also called field of view).
