By: Nazia AdninAfter watching “Me Before You” I have realized how much I miss watching Nicholas Sparks movie with a box of tissue in my hand. This is a movie about two human beings loving each other without any expectations and wishing the best for each other. “Me before you” is a 110 minutes emotional ride and tear producing tool for brilliant performances by its two leads. The film is directed by Thea Sharrock and adapted by Jojo Moyes from her novel of the same name. Alluring chemistry between Luis Clarke (Emilia Clarke) and Will Traynor (Sam Clafin) is the nucleus of the movie. Although, it has received mixed reviews but grossed a total of $182.2 million, against a budget of $20 million worldwide so far. But “Me before you” is a breath of fresh air for drama/ romantic genre movie lovers in the golden era of superhero and action movies.
Known as Dragon girl Emilia Clarke gives a bundle of fun performances but she could do better since her performance was outstanding as Holly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, an adaptation for Broadway. The British girl always has enchanted the audience through her accent. Her very British accent is a pleasant to ears in this film. The Hunger Game star Sam Clafin plays Will in the movie. He manages the character beautifully. His subtle expressions demonstrates the helplessness of Will who lives a miserable life for being paralyzed and wants to go through euthanasia out of self –respect and pride. Even his love for Luis doesn’t change his mind as Will Traynor doesn’t want to be a burden on her. The film was shot in different locations of Europe. The cinematography captures the beautiful landscape of Wales and Spain. It is been said that music can make or break a movie. In case of “Me before you” we get an array of versatile music featuring Imagine Dragons, Ed Sheeran, and The 1975. Music elevates the movie to a whole new emotional level. The movie faced a controversy as well. A lot of people were against the story before its release because the movie features euthanasia.

By: Nazia AdninStory of Mowgli was one of my favorite childhood stories. I remember watching the cartoon with cousins on weekends with great enthusiasm. As a fragile kid I tried climbing trees, fences of the house and what not like Mowgli wearing red underwear like him when I was in grade 2 or 3. It sounds crazy; I know but trust me it is a true story. Therefore, I was very confused when I heard about the remake of this classic story leaving the old fashioned animation behind adding live action and CGI instead. Furthermore, the new movie also changed the original story line. From the very beginning I was against the remake of this classic since the original animated movie was last famous movie to get Disney’s touch. Well, after watching the movie I realized I was very wrong. “Jungle Book” live action movie is absolute fun to watch which will take you back to your childhood. Jungle book is a tale of a boy named “Mowgli” who was raised by the wolves in Indian jungle. The only man cub in the jungle was found in a basket by Bagheera, a black panther. Disney’s 1967’s animated musical is based on the book by Rudyard Kipling’s book of the same name. Disney released a live-action remake in 1994 and a theatrical sequel, The Jungle Book 2, in 2003. 2016 live action movie is slightly different from the original story-line, losing most of the songs and real girl or glimpse of romance in Mowgli’s life at the end. However, this movie is absolutely brilliant with interesting twists and new plot. Digital rendition of talking animal never seemed so persuasive. Neel Sethi plays Mowgli himself along with other high profile actors who lends their voices in different characters. Neel seems like the boy next door in a middle class neighborhood of New York who nails the character as Mowgli. Ben Kingsley voices Bagheera- the panther, Idris Elba is the evil tiger Shere Khan and Scarlett Johansson is the hissing snake- Kaa. Bill Murray is outstanding as Baloo. The film also features two of the famous songs including “The Bare Necessities and “I Wanna Be like You”. Obviously, those are the best moments of the movie to me. Oh wait, I forgot to mention the scene where Shere Khan suddenly attacks Mowgli across the buffalo’s field to kill him. That scene gets me on the edge of my seat. Watching it in 3D turns into a great experience. Witty dialogues of Baloo are bliss. The film also features Kipling’s poem “The Law of Jungle”. Our favorite or at least my favorite character Baloo, however, prefers songs to poem and tags it one ‘propaganda. The movie is a spectacular revival of Disney’s class tale .It indeed is a great success and great example of team work. Neel Sethi promises to give us more amazing performances in future .What a brilliant actor he is! The Jungle Book 2.0 is the ultimate treat of the summer so far. It is a must watch with family.
